Sophdoesnails Palette Review

So I think most of us have seen the new sophdoesnails make up revolution palette and considering it is only £10 gave in because the palette is absolutely beautiful. I was a bit wary about buying the revolution palette because after trying some of their previous products I think this brand is either a hit or a miss! Although, I must say I have completely fallen in love with this brand again. Considering how cheap this brand is their products are actually insane. I am quite fussy when it comes to buying eyeshadow palettes because usually I will buy a palette and then only end up using 3 or 4 colours but that's what I love about the palette Sophie has created. There is 24 colours in the palette- all the colours are sooo beautiful.

The packaging for this palette is so simple but it is so cute and personalised! The palette is like a babypink colour with 'Soph x' written on the front which I think is so cute! When you open the palette it actually has a big mirror which always comes in handy for travelling especially! It also has the plastic sheet with all the names for the colours ( although, I always end up losing these) but names she has called these are so cute! (rosewood, festive flame and fairy lights being my faves)

As you can probably tell from the names, this palette is very autumnal. There is a mixture of matte and shimmers and the pigmentation in these colours are incredible, you don't need to apply much product either which is fab! Personally, I think the matte shades do have more pigment but I am in love with all the colours in this palette. Unlike most palettes I buy I will literally use every single colour in this palette.

I have only used this a handful of times as I brought it last week but I am completely in love with this palette and I can already tell I am going to be reaching for this palette all the time. Sophdoesnails also released a highlight palette aswell as the eyeshadow palette but I haven't picked one up yet but I after looking at some tutorials using this palette and looking at the pigments I am 1000% going to buy this soon so keep an eye out for a review on the highlight palette!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Review

I was looking for a new everyday foundation and one of my friends recommended trying the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation so I thought I would tell you what I thought.

Usually, I swear by the Estee Lauder Doublewear foundation as it is my holygrail. But as this is £32.50 a bottle i wanted to find a cheaper alternative for an every day basis. The Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation is only £9.99 so it definitely won't break the bank and you get your moneys worth.

It depends how much coverage you like to go for and what finish you like as to whether this foundation is for you. The coverage is definitely light to medium coverage but it is buildable. If you are looking for a full coverage foundation this isn't for you.  I have combination skin and I find after about 4 hours it can start to look greasy on your T-Zone. I would steer clear of this foundation if you have oily skin. This foundation would be fab if you have dry-normal skin as it is a very buttery formula and it is not drying at all.

The formula for this foundation is very lightweight like it literally doesn't feel like you're wearing anything at all and your skin still feels so fresh. It is definitely more of a dewy finish other than a matte that is the only downfall for me because usually I like a matte foundation. Other than covering blemishes it is more for making your skin look healthy and radiant.  I usually pair this up with my Maybelline Babyskin Primer and the two go so nicely together but it gives you a good coverage but also still looks very natural.

Make Up Must Haves

These are my favourite lip products ever! The formula for these are absolutely beautiful! There is nothing worse than wearing a  lip product but makes your lips feel dry and patchy! I am in love with the formulas to these as its exactly what it says in the name- the formula dries matte on your lips but it still makes your lips feel soooo soft! I also love the shades this comes in! There is a variation but if you like to go for pinky nudes like myself then honestly try these! My absolute favourites are Zurich, Abu Dhabi, Stockholm and Cannes! But as Autumn is coming i'm going to try some of the darker colours!  Unbelievably they are only £6 which is amaaaaazing ( slightly dangerous though because I cannot go into Boots without picking one up)

I have gone through my fair share of primers I have tried sooo many but none of them compare to the Maybeline Baby Skin Primer it is a godsend. Not only does it make your skin feel so soft and smooth but it hides all imperfections and gives your skin a healthy glow. Some days I just wear this primer without any foundation as it gives your skin such a nice complexion and makes your skin feel so smooth! It is only £7.99 which is even better! If you are looking for a new primer or are just starting out in make up then I would definitely give this a try!

When I first opened this mascara I wasn't sure as the wand is very thin but oh my gosh. I cannot even describe to you how much I love this mascara! It is my new holy-grail! I love to have long thick lashes but I absolutely hate wearing false eyelashes they just irritate me! This mascara is an amazing dupe for that as it not only lengthens and separates your lashes but it gives your lashes so much volume but yet still looks natural. This mascara is very similar to Estee Lauder mascaras but less than half the price so what's not to love?

This stuff is incredible! Not only does it hide all your blemishes but it is also so good for brightening under the eyes! The formula isn't that thick but it is still medium to full coverage! Its an absolute bargain at only £6.49! I use the shade Ivory!

I have tried quite a few powders but I always end up reaching for my holy-grail powder which is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder! Despite the fact it's only £3.99 it lasts alllll day which is a must! I use the shade Transparent!

Tattoo Experience

I thought I would write a post about my experience about getting a tattoo because after years of wanting one I finally decided to pluck up enough courage and go for it!

It wasn't so much the pain I was worried about it was more the fact I had no clue what to expect so I was a bit apprehensive but I genuinely had nothing to worry about. Everyone experiences pain in different ways depending on where your getting the tattoo and how weak your pain threshold is but considering mine is really weak I thought the pain would be unbearable but it honestly didn't hurt at all! It feels like someones scratching you really hard but for me personally it didn't hurt at all!

As this was my first tattoo I wanted to start off with something quite small so then if I did end up hating the pain it wouldn't take very long anyways so I would probably recommend doing this if you are a bit scared of getting one because then you will know what to expect! I had my tattoo on the inside of my left ankle and it only took about 15 minutes. Like I said I had wanted it for ages but I am so glad I finally decided to go for it because I absolutely love it!

For the aftercare I have been using Aveeno daily moisturising hand cream as it makes your skin feel so soft and moisturised! I have also been using basic Huggies babywipes to clean it every few hours. But when you are looking at buying these you need to make sure they are both fragrance free so then no chemicals will infect your tattoo! My tattoo doesn't really have any meaning for me I have just always loved the design and I love roses so I thought why not! I am already planning my next one so I can see myself getting addicted already- oops!

Make Up Favourites

I thought I would share with you some new make up I brought recently or products that I have been absolutely loving.

I'm going to be completely honest, before I purchased this Make Up Revolution Palette I had never really worn a blusher before as I never really got into them. I could never find a shade pale enough for my skin tone as I am so pale! But after watching a few make up tutorials including this palette I couldn't resist as it so beautiful and the colours are amazing! I didn't want to spend loads on a blusher knowing I don't wear them very often so I thought I would pick up this palette and omg its incredible! I have been using the first shade as a highlighter and for the corners of my eyes as it makes you look so awake and is such a nice shade! I have been using the shade next to it and the one underneath as my blush on the cheeks. What i love most about this palette is that the shades are very build-able and the colours are perfect for pale skin like mine! I have been using the bottom right as a bronzer (perks of having pale skin) and I absolutely love it!

Voilet Voss Holy Grail  Eyeshadow Palette £43
This palette is absolutely incredible! The colours are so pigmented and they are all so beautiful! I think what I love the most about this palette is that i love every single colour! Usually with eye shadow palettes I only tend to use a few of the colours but with this palette I literally love every colour especially Cranberry Splash, Toffee and Transition!  I purchased this palette from Cult Beauty.

Nyx Intense Buttergloss Tres Leches £5.50

I've never really been into wear lipglosses as I've always been a lipstick girl! I find with lipglosses they don't usually last very long and I usually like to go for a matte lip but as i've heard such amazing things about the Nyx Buttergloss' I thought why not give them a try?! they have so many shades to choose from and are so affordable! I can already tell I will be going back for more. They last so long compared to other lip-glosses' I have tried in the past and they also feel so nice on your lips.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation  £32.50

I feel like I am definitely a bit late on the bandwagon with this one but I really wanted to find a full coverage foundation and this one was recommended. I am so glad that I finally decided to purchase this. The best thing about this foundation is that it is build-able so you can wear it just how you like. For me, personally I wouldn't wear this as an every day foundation as it was quite thick and is on the pricer side of  £32.50 but I would definitely recommend this foundation if you like a thick consistency and are looking for full coverage.

As much as I love liquid lipsticks I usually hate the formulas as they tend to be so drying on the lips and tend to look quite patchy after a while but honestly? this is the best liquid lipstick I have ever tried! The formula is absolutely incredible, it is not drying at all as it is so smooth on the lips. Like the name suggests it does actually last all day without going patchy at all! I purchased the shade Perla which is my perfect shade. I will definitely be buying all the other shades.

I have only purchased this recently but honestly this is the best mascara I have ever used at only £9.99!! If you like the better than sex mascara by Two Faced then this mascara is 10000% for you!! It is an amazing dupe at nearly half the price! whats not to love? If you like your lashes to be very full and long definitely give this a try! It also separates all your lashes and gives amazing volume without making them look clumpy. I will definitely be buying this again which is first for me because I never buy the same mascara twice so that proves how good this mascara is!

5 things to do when you're feeling down

We all get those days where just nothing goes right or you just feel like crying at the simplest of things or you just simply need cheering up! So I thought I write down some of the things I do to cheer myself up when i'm feeling down and hopefully these will help you!

1. Support-  Having support around you when you are going through a rough time or if you are just feeling a bit rubbish is so important! Whether if it's your boyfriend, friends or a family member speaking to someone when your down is so important. It can really help get things off your chest as it's no good keeping things bottled up! You will feel so much better afterwards! Even if you don't wanna talk about your problems just spending time with them in general can really help.

2. Distract Yourself- whether this is reading a book, watching telly or doing something you enjoy it will really help to take your mind off things. The worst thing to do (for me, personally) is sitting and thinking about it because that way you will just think yourself into an even worse mood- i'm great at this! Personally, I love watching one of my favourite shows such as Pretty Little Liars or Gossip Girl as this really cheers me up! I also enjoy watching Youtube. My favourite youtuber to watch when i'm feeling down is either Hannah Renee or Fabulous Hannah as they both post such amazing videos and they never fail to cheer me up.

3. Pamper- and i don't mean just have a quick shower and wash your hair i mean full on pamper. Run yourself a hot bubble bath with an amazing smelling lush bath bomb, grab all your favourite skincare products, light up your favourite candle, grab a tub of ice cream & a mag and play your favourite playlists. I can garauntee you once you have done this you will feel amazing!

4. Glam yourself up- even if you just going to remove it all straight after. This may seem a bit pointless but for me personally, I am most confident when I have a full face of make up on. so what better way to make yourself feel better than do what makes you feel confident?

5. Positivity-  It is so important to look at the positive side of things. It's important to appreciate what you do have not what you don't. I'm a complete sucker for quotes & sayings, my phone is basically full of them so here is a few of my favourites:

She believed she could, so she did

Never let anyone dull your sparkle

Your life does not get better by chance, It gets better by change

Your comfort zone keeps expanding every time you get out your comfort zone

Ten years from now, make sure you can say that you chose your life, you didn't settle for it

Don't think about what can happen in a month. Don't think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be.

Skincare Routine

Hey my loves! I thought I would share with you my skincare routine. My skin is oily and I have always suffered from acne-prone sensitive skin but during the last couple of months I have tried so many different brands and I have discovered some really amazing ones so I thought why not share them with you?!

It is so important to make sure that every last trace of your make up is removed before you sleep so that your skin can breath. To remove my make up I use the Garnier micellar water and I absolutely love it. All you need to do is wet a cotton pad then apply to your face and eyes. What i love most about this product is that it's so good if you have sensitive skin as it's not too harsh.   It's only £4.99 for 400ml so you definitely get your moneys worth!

Once, I have made sure that all my make up is off I will then use a cleanser to wash my face. I have a few cleansers that I absolutely love and switch between so I thought I would share them with you.

  • Vitamin E facial wash from Superdrug. At first, I was a bit anxious using this product as it is so cheap at around £3 and as it's superdrug's own but honestly it is incredible! The following morning after I had first used it my skin felt absolutely incredible! It leaves your skin feeling so smooth and hydrated so this would be ideal for dry skin!
  • No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Cleanser-  I have only just started using this recently but since I have I can really notice a difference with my skin it looks so much healthier and is only £8! This product is great if you have sensitive skin!

I then go ahead to use the No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Toner which helps remove oil and any dirt from the skin! It leaves your skin feeling so refreshed! I would definitely recommend using a toner if you suffer from oily skin!  I then use my favourite product ever  which is the Alpha-H Liquid Gold with Glycolic Acid- this product is an absolute godsend! I started using this product around December time and honestly my skin has never been clearer! I didn't expect such a good result so quickly!  I would 100% recommend using this if you suffer from acne as it does absolute wonders! You would just add a little of the product to a cotton pad then wipe all over your face making sure you avoid the eyes! The first couple of days you might not see much of a difference but within about three days all my spots were completely gone! The results you can get from using this product is amazing! It's around £33 for 100ml so its on the pricier side but I promise you it will not let you down! On the bottle it says to use this two or three times a week but I use it most days! I own about 3 bottles of this so it's safe to say i'm in love :-)

My favourite ever moisturiser is the Clinique Moisture Surge- it leaves your skin feeling so hydrated and so soft! It is £34 for 50ml but it lasts for ages! To go along with that i use the Clinique pep start eye cream which is £22 for 100ml. It is so good to help with under-eye circles which I definitely suffer from.

Three times a week I use a Glamglow facemask. I only discovered them recently but I wish I had found them sooner because their products are amazing! They have plenty of different products suited to different skin types. I have only used the supermud clearing mask but I couldn't believe the results. Their facemasks are around £39 for 34g but sooo worth it.

As sometimes I tend to get dry skin (especially in the Winter) I use the Nuxe multi-purpose oil which can be used on body, face and hair. I only tend to use this on my body and hair but it leaves your skin feeling so smooth and the smell is divine! This is £29 for 100ml. I also use the Soap and Glory Righteous Butter which is my holygrail at only £10 for 300ml- what a bargain!

I hope this post has been helpful if you are looking for some different skincare brands to try or if you have the same skin type as me. Feel free to leave a comment below! :-)  or follow me on instagram- lucyhighburyxx

skincare & make up favourites

I thought I would share with you some of the skincare and make up products that I have been loving within the last couple of months. I'm a sucker for skincare and I've been trying a few different brands lately and I have discovered some amazing brands.

If any of you reading this, follow me on instagram then you will know that I am addicted to buying make up brushes. I have lost count of how many I actually own but it's well over 60--oops! Last month I purchased  8 piece eyeshadow brush set from Lily England and honestly they are incredible! The set I purchased was £16.99 which I personally think is amazing! The quality of the brushes are so good, they are so soft and they blend absolutely incredibly! I hate with some brushes how harsh they are on your skin but honestly with these brushes they are honestly such good quality at such an amazing price. They are also white with rose gold so what's not to love? Lily England are actually quite a small company and they deserve so much more recognition than they get and they actually sent me a 10% off code just for following them and sent me such a lovely message to go with it which I think is such a nice personal touch.

As i'm addicted to buying make up brushes, I also purchased these rose gold brushes from Amazon. This was a couple of months ago so I can't find the link but I remember they were only about £4.99- i know, how insane! At first I was a bit worried about buying them as I was unsure what the quality of them would be considering they were so cheap but honestly- they are amazing! they are so soft and pretty too! Although, i only really use the eyeshadow brushes and the powder brush as I didn't really like the contour brush- that would be the only let down for me but considering the whole set was £4.99 i can't complain!

A brand I have wanted to try for a while now was Morphe as i've always thought their eyeshadows look amazing and i've always heard such amazing things about them from other bloggers and youtubers. I purchased mine from Cult Beauty which is a site that sells brands that aren't sold in the UK or brands that are hard to get hold off in certain places. As the Morphe Palettes are so popular they are extremely hard to get hold off as their usually sold out but I finally managed to get my hands on one and honestly it is the best purchase I have ever made. I chose the 35o Palette which is incredible. The amount of colours you get for the price is outstanding. The palette has a variation of mattes and shimmers. ( from the photo you can tell what my fave's are) This palette was only £21.50 or something similar although you will also have to pay for shipping but personally I would say go for it. Now I have tried it I would happily pay even £50 for it. It is worth every single penny. These eyeshadows blend so easily and the pigmentation is amazing.

As I have been trying out new skincare brands I came across a brand called Glamglow and I can't believe i've only just come across them! I wish I had found them sooner. I have always suffered from acne-prone and oily skin and these masks are absolutely amazing for that. I have tried so many different brands across the years and the face masks I purchased nothing has ever worked this good. I'm pretty sure they have different masks suited to different skin types. I've only tried the one for acne prone skin but I would highly recommend it.  You can purchase this brand from Boots and It's about £39 which I know is on the pricier side but it is worth every single penny.

I have also been using the Soap and Glory Body Buttercream which honestly smells divine and it makes your skin feel amazing.I also got the body spray with the same scent for my bedroom and I absolutely love it.

I love cute unique jars so when i found this one in New Look for only £4.99 I couldn't resist. It's actually a mug but I loved it so much that I now use it to hold my Lily England Brushes. plus the quote on it, is me 10000%.

I hope you enjoyed reading this :-) Lucyloo x

I thought I would share with you what products/items I'm loving at the moment. A variety of make up, skincare and home decor. After having a big clear-out recently I have become slightly obsessed with home decor and cute little ornaments for my room. I have noticed that since i've decorated my room how I like it has affected my moods. it may sound silly but I think if your happy with your surroundings then it can really lift your mood. For me personally, nothing is better than a nice evening with a nice cosy throw over you, fairy lights on, hot chocolate at the ready and a nice candle on.

I've actually lost count of how many candles I own, i am so obsessed with them. My favourites are usually Yankee Candles although they are a bit on the pricier side. I've recently discovered the candles that B&M and Primark sell- they are amazing and they are so cheap (usually about £4/£5) which is so good considering they last for ages so you definitely get your moneys worth. My favourite candle at the moment is a candle I brought from Primark a couple of days ago. The scent is to die for. It's quite sweet so i would steer away from this if you don't like sweet scents. The smell also lasts for ages and it was only £4 which is an absolute bargain as it is quite big aswell so it should last quite a while. To be completely honest with you, the main reason I brought it was because of the jar! It is rose gold!  ( you will soon realise I am obsessed with rose gold!)

Something else I have recently become obsessed with is the make up brand- revolution that sells exclusively to superdrug. Not only do their products have incredible pigmentation but their also so affordable. I have a few of their products but i'm in love with their palettes. The eyeshadow palette that I have brought from them is a perfect everyday palette that has colours to suit everyone- matte and shimmers. I usually tend to go for browns but i also love a bit of glitter because what girl doesn't? I have also recently purchased their cream face palette which includes concealers, contour and highlighter. The concealer is perfect to brighten under the eyes which is what I have been using it for. I have also fell in love with the highlighter in the palette. It is so pigmented and is the perfect highlight. I have tried many different highlighters and this definitely my favourite high-street brand for highlighters. If you have a bit more money to spend I would go for the Nars highlighters but the Revolution one is an incredible dupe for it and less than half the price

I am loving liquid lipsticks at the moment but as I have quite dry chapped lips I struggle finding one that doesn't dry my lips out. I can't stand it when they go patchy which is very common in liquid lipsticks but I have recently tried the NYX soft matte lip creams. The formula of these are absolutely incredible. They have such a wide choice of colours. They don't dry your lips out at all and they feel so hydrating on your lips. They also last for ages. I tend to go for pinky-nudes as that's what suits me best and I don't like to go for anything to bright on a every day basis. That's why the NYX soft matte lip creams are so perfect as they have a colour for every occasion and skin tone. They are so reasonably priced aswell as they are £5.50-although the packaging is quite small you do definitely get your moneys worth and I would highly recommend these. The colours I have been wearing are Cannes and Stockholm. I love both.

I have always had problems with my skin ever since a young age. My skin type is oily and  I am prone to breakouts especially around my time of the month and when I eat chocolate. ( It is very common to get breakouts after eating chocolate due to the high sugars and ingredients- unfortunately I suffer from this) But over the past few months I have tried quite a few different brands of skincare. Since I have started using the Alpha-h liquid gold my skin has never been so clear! All you need to do is dab some of the product onto a cotton pad then apply this all over your face morning and night. After the first couple of uses you won't notice much of a difference as it will bring up all the dirt that is clogged up in your pores but after a few days as long as you apply this every day then your skin will be so clear! Even though it is on the pricier side of around £30 for 100ml I promise you it is worth every penny!

Ever since I started wearing make up I have always been fascinated with mascara. The amount of mascaras I have tried over the years is scary hahaha! I have never really been into wearing false eyelashes as they would just annoy me. I am constantly trying new mascaras and I very rarely buy the same mascara twice. I find it hard to find a mascara that not only curls and gives volume to your lashes but that also gives them length! I love long lashes. Last month, I purchased two new mascaras and they work so well together. The Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Reloaded mascara and this is a godsend. It curls your lashes immensely but without making them too cloggy. I love matching this with the Pur Fully Loades mascara- this is perfect for the bottom lashes. Whenever I wear these two mascaras together I always get asked what mascara I am wearing.

Another new brand that I have recently become obsessed with is Kiko as I store opened near where i live. I can already tell I am going to buy so many products from them in the future so keep an eye out. For a while now I have been looking for a glittery eyeshadow and I have found it.  I purchased the cream crush lasting colour eyeshadow in number 5. The pigment is absolutely amazing, it lasts for hours and I have received so many compliments on this. The colour is absolutely beautiful. I purchased this for £4.80 in the sale.

Aswell as trying new make up brands, I have also tried new haircare brands. As I have coloured and bleached my hair so many times my hair is so dry so for ages now I have been trying to find a good treatment for the dry hair, as i tend to curl/straighten my hair most days which can also make it dry and cause split ends. I have recently tried  the Josh Wood hair oil and it is incredible. It has multi-uses so you can see what works best on your hair. I tend to put this oil in my hair before  i wash my hair as it makes it so soft and also helps with knots as my hair gets so knotty. Although, you can use this oil between washes. Make sure you don't use too much oil as it can make your hair look greasy.
